Different Types of Wilmington Drywalls

When we are planning to build a home or buy one, we look at its foundation, paint or electrical works. Quite often we do not notice the walls and what they are made up of. A drywall is one of the most regularly used materials in many homes and is known as gypsum board, wallboard, sheetrock, plasterboard, etc. There are different types of Wilmington drywall. Let us try and understand a few of them.

a) The first type is the moisture resistant drywall which is used in those areas of your home that is in close contact with moisture like your bathroom, laundry room and your kitchen. Although this type of drywall is not water proof, it is treated with additives so that it can hold up better when it comes in contact with water. Like any other drywalls, it also needs to be painted and finished.

b) There are drywalls that are specially used in the fire prone areas of your home like your garages, multi family buildings and furnace rooms. These drywalls are made by using the core of gypsum just like any other drywall. However, the fire resistant drywalls contain glass fibers as well. This type of drywall is known as type X drywall and is generally stamped on the drywall panels. Cutting this type of drywall is difficult because of the presence of the harder gypsum core. Apart from the above two, you have another type of Wilmington drywall called the abuse resistant drywall.
